No.1 Ranked 2017 Cabernet Franc in Australia (The Real Review, Huon Hooke) “Not many winemakers around Australia have got their heads around cabernet franc. But when done right this is a grape variety that can be every bit as good as cabernet sauvignon, if in a more elegant style. This version, with 7% merlot and 5% cabernet sauvignon, is the complete package with its deep colour followed by a beautifully complex and fragrant bouquet – leaf, graphite and violets over a rich bed of blackberries. Dry and only mid weight but it displays a powerful core of dark yet subtle fruits with a surprisingly firm structure before a long and impressive finish. Oak is a little out there right now but give it five years and this wine will really sing.” 97 points – Winepilot, Angus Hughson “Deep, dense colour – red/purple and very brooding. Intense fruit aroma of blueberry, raspberry, rhubarb and a talcum powder high-note from oak. A trace of violet starting up. The wine is intense and concentrated, bold and bright if not really complex yet. Give it time. This is a bright, bouncy youngster with firm tannins which has yet to give of its best. It needs more time.”* 96 points – Huon Hooke* — Cabernet Franc 89%, Merlot 6% and Cabernet Sauvignon 5%
